INGREDIENTS:
Red Chori bean( Thatta Payir) 1/4 cup
Onion small size sliced 1
Tomato chopped 1
Garlic sliced 1
Tamarind soaked in water 1/2 lime size
Sambar powder 1 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves few sprigs
Salt as per taste
Oil 2tsp
(2 tbsp of shredded Coconut ground with 1/4 tsp of fennel seeds ) optional
METHOD:
Soak red chori beans overnight. Pressure cook the red chori beans.In a saucepan add oil. Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds after it crackles add fenugreeak seeds, curry leaves, onions , garlic and saute until light brown. Then add tomatoes , saute. When the tomatoes turn soft add the cooked beans, tamarind extract, sambar powder, turmeric powder, salt,water and bring it to a boil. Finally add the ground coconut paste to this mixture. Simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
Garnish wih cilantro, serve hot with rice or rotis.
